Hume forecasts Woods will recover as a golfer , but whether he can recover as a person depends on “his faith. He’s said to be a Buddhist. I don’t think that faith offers the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith. So my message to Tiger would be, “Tiger, turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world.”

Really? Brit Hume thinks that converting to Christianity will “save” Tiger Woods and help him recover from his lil scandal. Does Brit Hume somehow think that christians are not sinners, and that beign a christian you just overcome all transgressions or perhaps you are automatically forgiven or excused from sins? And why would you think a man’s religious beliefs would have something to do with his sexual morals. Obviously Tiger has some issues with commitment and monogomy and so forth, but I don’t think that converting to christianity will change that. You don’t sleep around with 16 (as far as we publicly know) women over the past 10 years while married and raising a young family without a care in the world all because you choose to follow a different religion. Brit Hume needs to remember a few other christians – politicians – that are chrisitans and have committed mis-steps. You can follow any religion thats out there and you will still commit sins. It doesn’t matter what God or entity or holy book you priase to, read, or live by, you are human above all else and will commit sins.

For Brit Hume to say that converting to christianity will “save” Tiger Woods and make him a better man, is absolute horse shit. But hey, he worked for and was on Fox News when he said it, so … go figure!

The 2008 Republican presidential candidate suggested during his radio show, “The Huckabee Report,” on Thursday that, under President Obama’s health care plan, Kennedy would have been told to “go home to take pain pills and die” during his last year of life.

“[I]t was President Obama himself who suggested that seniors who don’t have as long to live might want to consider just taking a pain pill instead of getting an expensive operation to cure them,” said Huckabee. “Yet when Sen. Kennedy was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer at 77, did he give up on life and go home to take pain pills and die? Of course not. He freely did what most of us would do. He choose an expensive operation and painful follow up treatments. He saw his work as vitally important and so he fought for every minute he could stay on this earth doing it. He would be a very fortunate man if his heroic last few months were what future generations remember him most for.”

As it happens, Huckabee made his remarks shortly after he derided Democrats for using Kennedy’s death to make the pitch that “Congress must hurry and pass the health care reform bill and do it in his memory,”

“That not only defies good taste,” said Huckabee, “it defies logic.”

TheRNC, guided by Michael Steele, has sent out a national mailer, a type of survey you might say, to voters and supporters claiming that the federal government can use voter registration cards to determine one’s political affiliation and from that decide who would receive health care or not. Asserting that the government would restrict anyone who is a registered republican from receiving health care. In the mailer it goes as far as to say “doesn’t the thought of a Democrat forced federal government controlled health care program restricting health care to republicans worry you?”

Are they serious?! Do they think that people will believe this claim?  Of course they do! And people will believe it. Cause your average American is uneducated about the issues  and gullible. And just like lemmings on a cliff, they will believe what their “leaders” say and will jump off that cliff into the world of political bullshit.

This morning a friend pointed me to the local newspaper website and how many readers comments were so negative and just disrespectful. At first I wasn’t too surprised, I do live in a blue county in a very red state. But after I left a supportive comment, I checked back a few hours later and was almost astonished at the tone of the comments that were being left. Everything from saying the Senator would definately be welcomed in hell and accusing him of leading a cult like attempt to turn the United States into some socialist state, to “it took 40 some odd years, but all the Kennedy’s are out of government, finally!”.

I left my comments and stated how it shows these people’s ugliest side that they can not respect a man for his dedication to his country, but instead have to beat up on him and smear his name and all that he did for his country. I felt I had said my peace.

But then this afternoon I was scanning stories on HuffingtonPost.com and came across a story on how Rush Limbaugh is praising himself for predicting the Senator’s death. I remember the flack he received when he originally said it this past spring. But to see that he raised it again and wanted to prance around “I predicted it, whoo hoo!”  just underlines the disgust that seeps out of the right-wing lately.

I just don’t see how they can claim to be all God-fearing and “true American” and all that crap, when they can turn on someone who disagrees with them in such a hateful and mean spirited way. Democrats were pretty rough on George Bush over the past 8 years, but you never heard mainstream liberals or progressives disrespect right-wing/conservatives as much as they do to their opponents.  A friend of mine remarked how he did not care for Ronald Reagan, but when Regan passed away a few years ago he did not go on to any blogs and proclaim that he was the anti-christ or that his administration was the onslaught of the apocalypse.

I think it shows a more compassionate side of liberal/progressives, that we can disagree and fight against the right wing / conservatives but we can still respect them. Too bad we can’t say that of the other side.

PS: I will admit that there are some on the ‘left’ who are a bit more ultra than myself and some fringe groups have spouted some more nasty things, but the ‘talking heads’ and outspoken members of the liberal/progressive movement did not.

[ from huffingtonpost.com ] Rush Limbaugh offered himself some kudos Wednesday for predicting in March that the health care bill wouldn’t be passed before Ted Kennedy’s death.

“Before it’s all over, it’ll be called the Ted Kennedy Memorial Health Care Bill,” Limbaugh said at the time. Indeed, with Kennedy’s passing, Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) has called for health care reform legislation to be named in his honor. Limbaugh, who was criticized for his insensitivity over the Kennedy remarks, is expressing vindication. “I predicted it, and I caught all kinds of grief for it out there,” he said.

What’s sad is that Sen McCain and Hatch have both voted against health care bills that Sen Kennedy has brought to the Senate floor. And to say that if Sen Kennedy wasn’t battling brain cancer, that these two senators could agree on a health care bill is just plain stupid. If they truly respect their fellow Senator, then they would be in the fight on his behalf trying to hash out this bill. Anyone who has followed politics in the past 40 years would know that a personal mission of Sen Kenendy’s has been to bring health care to all Americans. And for these two buffoons to use his absence due to his terminal illness as a reason why the health care reform is not moving better, is a horrible slap in the face to a great American.

And to think that old fart and his lil Barbie doll, were a few million votes away from the White House. Whew!!

Rachel Maddow opens the door and shows where these groups come from and who is behind all the protests. Very interesting!

In her response, she said that its typical for Hollywood celebrity types to make fun and such of the daily lives of regular Americans. Um, regular Americans don’t trot their pregnant teenagers out on the national stage for publicity and then turn around and preach how others are so immoral. I don’t think that your children’s lives or your family overall, should be discussed or even a matter for public discussion. But you stepped out on the national stage and when you did that you opened the doors and windows for the world to watch you. Now when you stepped off that stage, you could have closed those doors and windows, but you didn’t. You kept them open.

You invited People magazine and US Weekly magazine, and Oprah and Access Hollywood and everyone else in when you paraded the birth of your grandson around. You could have and should have told the media to stay away. Denied any media requests for an interview of your daughter.  You could have shut out the world after you ‘stepped off the stage’, but you didn’t. You stayed on the stage because you want to.

In addition, Letterman’s jokes were not implying anything about raping your daughter. They merely were using your daughter for humor and attacks on others. He made a comment that it was touch to keep Elliot Spitzer away from your daughter. Implying that she is attractive and he would go after her for that reason. He commented that there was an uncomfortable moment at a Yankees game when Alex Rodriguez impregnated your daughter in the 7th inning stretch. Well that was again an attack on someone else at your daughter’s expense.

She got pregnant at 17. She isn’t exactly a saint. And since you wanted to parade her around during your campiagn, you are allowing the public to comment and discuss that. Yes she is now campaigning and advocating about teen pregnancy but that does not cancel out the fact that she got pregnant at a young age and out of wedlock. You and your family cooked the stew that you are in, if you don’t like it, then go back to Alaska, shut the doors and windows and shut the hell up. Otherwise, deal with it.

In the last election, Rick Perry was re-elected, but only with 38% of the vote. The democrats didn’t have the best candidate but they had a good one, and he could have won, if it hadn’t been for the Republican-machevelli former state comptroller who ran as an independent and a stupid comedic folk writer who also ran as an independent. So in a four way race, Perry got the most, and according to our stupid election rules, that allows him to win (( note: the governor’s race is the only statewide race that doesn’t require 50% to win )).

And then he got on that “tea-bagging” bandwagon on Tax Day, and brought up talk of cession from the United States. What a total douchebag he is. And now at a recent fundraiser in Houston, Governor Good-Hair proclaims his love of Rush Limbaugh. This purely is a way for him to pick up support for the upcoming Governor’s race in 2010, which will pit him against Sen Kay Bailey Hutchinson. The republican primary fight is going to be brutal, pitting the conservatives against the moderates, the more experienced politician who has spent a decade on the Washington DC stage, while the other one who rode into office on Dubya’s coattails and only has to “work” once or twice a year.

The outlook isn’t good for Ol Rick boy, and I sincerely hope that Texans get tired of the same ol crap in state government and tell Rick to get the hell out of Austin.
